Dr.Nojoke is a musician, producer and performer born and raised up in Berlin. He is a dedicated lover of noises. His sound archive is full of popping, scratching, smacking and quirky, clicky sounds, which he found with his microphone and which were edited, processed and re-arranged then to new structures and tracks. Dr.Nojoke is researching on the field between lo-tech/hi-tech and acoustic/electronic sounds, searching for the things inbetween and behind and paying attention to the unpredictable and incidental. Since 2005 Dr.Nojoke has been working on technoid sound-sculptures defining a percussive, quirky, deep and experimental micro-cut-up-music, he calls Clikno. In the last years he adapted his concept also to Ambient, Drone, IDM, Clicks & Cuts, Dubstep music and to live-improvised laptop-based jam sessions (with TRIoon and Transit Audio). He strives for a synthesis of club, art, moods and spaces between process and presentation, improvisation and composition, intuition and intention, between man and machine, that is transformed into a lively process! Dr.Nojoke understands his work as a reflection on the world as perceived and observed through the media and through his senses. As a musician he attaches great importance to a permanent re-definition re-inventing himself and reflecting his work - while avoiding/discarding clichees. Dr.Nojoke´s live show may feature instruments such as radio, crushed plastic bottles, marbles and souvenirs as Dr.Nojoke celebrates the joy of finding special sounds in everyday objects not usually appreciated for their musicality. His worldwide concerts and performances in galleries, clubs and festivals provide evidence of this. Dr.Nojoke is also involved in the audiovisual projects Horror Vacui and TRIoon, in the label-collective UNOIKI and the laptop-quartet Transit Audio. |
